  • State of the City Address
  • Mayor Erin Mendenhall

    Salt Lake City, Utah

Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall delivered her fifth State of the City address, highlighting the city’s progress and unveiling transformational opportunities to support residents and future generations of Salt Lakers.

“In Salt Lake City, we approach our greatest challenges and boundless opportunities with partnership and ambition at the center of everything we do,” Mayor Mendenhall said. “The decisions we make today will have vast ripple effects on our future. We are setting the stage for not just tomorrow, but for the next 10 years, 20 years, and even 50 years.”

Mayor Mendenhall outlined her administration’s vision to create more green space and community amenities in Salt Lake City, including the creation of a pedestrian promenade on Main Street and the Green Loop, which will transform 5.5 miles of downtown streets into a linear park network for residents and visitors. These priorities will support the community, economy, and environment for decades.

The Mayor reaffirmed her commitment to keeping the Utah Jazz in Downtown Salt Lake City, cementing the city’s identity as the State’s hub for sports, entertainment, and culture.

The administration will continue to prioritize initiatives that generate activation, increase connectivity, and support the highest quality of life for everyone. Sustained investment in affordable housing, multi-family projects, and new initiatives supporting families living in Salt Lake City were among additional priorities, including $38 million in funding to generate more affordable development in 2024 and creating a loan program to incentivize more childcare in the city.
