Mayors Alliance for Progress
The National Conference of Democratic Mayors (NCDM) gives Democratic Mayors a unified voice with which to advocate on behalf of America’s cities. NCDM:
- Communicates and promotes the goals of the Democratic Party as they relate to cities;
- Connects Mayors to the Democratic National Committee and other Democratic organizations; and
- Supports a political network of Democratic Mayors across the nation.
Democratic Mayors believe that a competitive economy is an essential ingredient for any thriving city. Mayors rely on strong partnerships with business, organized labor and community groups to ensure success for their communities.
Because of this critical partnership, the NCDM has established the Mayors Alliance for Progress (MAP). The Alliance provides leaders in the private sector, organized labor and other fields with an opportunity to share ideas and engage with Democratic Mayors in small group settings.
NCDM Mayors’ Alliance for Progress features unique opportunities to participate in one-on-one discussions with the CEOs of the nation’s cities on key policy issues. Some of the opportunities include:
- Mayors’ Alliance Roundtable Series. A series of intimate luncheons and breakfasts in Washington, DC and in cities across the country with Mayors and Alliance members.
- NCDM Policy Series. The NCDM sponsors in-depth discussions throughout the year on critical issues of local and national significance including public safety, transportation, infrastructure and housing.
- NCDM Business Meetings & Receptions. Two annual business meetings in conjunction with the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ January and June meetings, where policy and open discussions with Mayors also take place.
- NCDM Communications. Mayors Alliance members receive email newsletters featuring policy discussions, talking points and other news. The NCDM web site features information on Mayoral races nationwide and offers information on key issues.
- Special Events. Mayors Alliance members are invited to attend special NCDM events held throughout the year.
