Democratic Mayors Association Applauds Passage of Historic Bipartisan Housing Bill

WASHINGTON—Today, the House passed the 21st Century Road to Housing Act, a historic investment in affordable housing construction across the country. Following Senate passage earlier this week, the bill now heads to the President’s desk and is expected to be signed into law. In response to the bill’s passage, the Democratic Mayors Association released the following statement.

“Mayors are on the frontlines, and in cities across the country, they can’t step outside their door without someone asking them about housing. While much progress has been made at the local level cutting red tape and working with the private and nonprofit sectors to get more housing built, solving the affordable housing crisis requires an all-of-action at every level of government approach. The 21st Century Road to Housing Act represents a strong first step toward achieving that goal. We look forward to Democratic mayors having the additional tools and resources necessary to effectively address affordable housing challenges across the country.”
