Washington, D.C. – The Democratic Mayors Association shared the following statement after the Supreme Court of the United States blocked Trump’s tariffs:
“The Supreme Court’s decision to strike down Trump’s illegal tariffs and limit his power is a win for our democracy, but the unfortunate reality for too many families and small businesses across the country is that much of the damage is already done. While Trump may say that he has ‘won affordability,’ the reality on the ground is that prices are up, local economies are strained, and hardworking Americans are feeling the squeeze every single day.
“Mayors see it firsthand: neighbors struggling to pay their bills, families choosing between groceries and medicine, small businesses fighting to stay open, and communities stretched to the breaking point. Americans deserve leaders who put people over politics and strive to make life better and more affordable for all. Mayors will always stand with the people, and never stop fighting to protect them and to keep our cities, and our country, moving forward.”
