  • State of the City Address
  • Mayor Tim Keller

    Albuquerque, New Mexico

Mayor Tim Keller delivered his State of the City Address, laying out a bold vision for Albuquerque’s future, while also highlighting the real results of years of focused, transformational work. From a revitalized BioPark to cutting-edge crime fighting, housing innovation, and economic transformation, Mayor Keller emphasized that Albuquerque is at a pivotal point—and making progress that is positioned to last for generations.

Mayor Keller reaffirmed the city’s commitment to protecting immigrant communities and defending Albuquerque against divisive national policies. The city’s efforts include legal action to preserve funding, executive orders limiting local involvement in federal immigration enforcement, and citywide Know Your Rights workshops.

One of the most notable highlights was the city’s progress in public safety and continued momentum in lowering crime. For the first time in over a decade, every major crime category is down. Further, Mayor Keller described the city’s relentless effort to build a comprehensive housing and homelessness response from the ground up. He spotlighted the new Gateway System, now helping over 1,000 people daily through specialized facilities for families, seniors, and those with addiction or behavioral health needs.

To help residents manage rising prices, Albuquerque is launching its first-ever citywide affordability initiative this fall. The plan includes partnerships with local growers to bring fresh, affordable food to underserved neighborhoods, freezing fees on family-friendly programs—from the zoo to swim lessons—and expanding free access to public services, such as gyms, pet healthcare, and public transit. The city is also addressing housing affordability by expanding support for down payments and home rehabilitation costs, which helps more families stay in their homes and neighborhoods.
