At a time when our rights, freedoms, and futures are under threat, Democratic Mayors are showing the nation what real leadership looks like.

Quinton Lucas, born and raised in Kansas City’s inner city, is the city’s 55th Mayor and the youngest person elected to the office since 1855. First elected in 2019 and overwhelmingly reelected in 2023, Mayor Lucas has focused on expanding opportunity, strengthening public safety, and building a more affordable Kansas City.
As Mayor, he led the adoption of one of the nation’s first zero-fare transit initiatives, keeping bus and rail service free for all riders. Drawing on his own experience with homelessness, he created the City’s first Housing Trust Fund, which has supported thousands of new affordable homes.
Mayor Lucas has secured more than $100 million in federal, state, and private funding for infrastructure, housing, and public safety, while attracting new businesses and leading Kansas City to record population growth. Internationally, he helped secure Kansas City’s selection as a host city for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He also co-chairs Mayors Against Illegal Guns, advocating to reduce gun violence in cities across the country.
Mayor Lucas is a graduate of Washington University and Cornell Law School and previously worked as a law professor.
