Mayors in Action

WHY MAYORS MATTER

When Washington failed to lead, Democratic Mayors stepped up.

Now they’re working in lockstep with the Biden-Harris administration to Build Back Better and keep America moving forward.

America’s cities passed billions in local infrastructure and transportation funding in 2020. Mayors are raising wages, growing economies and building safer, more equitable workplaces.

The United States has restored its status as a global climate leader by rejoining the Paris Accords – but cities never left. Over 400 Mayors, representing 70 million Americans, committed to upholding and honoring the agreement in 2017.

Democratic Mayors don’t just talk about jobs, they create them – every day.

They are leaders in innovation: rebuilding our streets and making them safer, making housing and the dream of homeownership attainable and making a carbon-free future possible.

Democratic Mayors are fighting daily to protect our civil liberties and guarantee civil rights, voting rights, women’s rights, workers’ rights and LGBTQ+ rights.

We have welcomed a large and diverse slate of new Democratic Mayors since 2019:

As cities go, so goes our nation.
