Mayors Call on Trump to Condemn Armed Intimidation and Vigilantism Amongst His Supporters

Several members of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns coalition recently penned an open letter to President Donald Trump urging him to end his dangerous rhetoric and condemn the armed intimidation of protesters and vigilantism in cities across the country.

“Acts of intimidation and vigilantism do not promote public safety,” the letter states. “They undermine it. As we have seen multiple times over the last few weeks, in an instant, the presence of firearms can turn disagreement or a scuffle into a deadly tragedy.”

The letter's authors include Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, Pittsburgh Mayor Bill Peduto, Richmond Mayor Levar Stoney, Newport News Mayor McKinley Price, Lansing Mayor Andy Schor, Durham Mayor Steve Schewel, Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller, Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, and Grand Rapids Mayor Rosalynn Bliss.
