NEW: DMA Announces 2027 Mayors’ Summit to Be Held in Miami

Jul 30, 2026

WASHINGTON—Today, the Democratic Mayors Association (DMA) announced that their 2027 summit will be held in Miami, Florida and hosted by Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins. Every year, the DMA summit brings together mayors from around the country to share solutions and strategies that mayors can utilize in their own communities and call on national partners from the government and private sectors to engage on key issues impacting their cities.

“From affordability to public safety to housing, Democratic mayors are making real, tangible progress for families,” said Virginia Mayer, Executive Director of DMA. “At a time when the Washington status quo isn’t working for working people, Democratic mayors across the country are keeping the lights on and the water clean while expanding opportunity and delivering results in their cities through innovation and partnerships. The DMA Summit in Miami is a great opportunity for mayors to convene, connect and collaborate on what works in their communities, remind people how Democratic mayors are leading the way forward, and call on federal and national partners to join them.”

“I’m honored to welcome mayors from across the country to Miami for the Democratic Mayors Association Summit,” said Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins. “Cities are where government has the greatest opportunity to make a real difference in people’s lives, and mayors have a responsibility to solve problems and deliver results. This summit is an opportunity to learn from one another, share what’s working, and strengthen the partnerships that help our communities thrive. I’m excited to showcase Miami and welcome leaders who are committed to building stronger cities and a brighter future for the residents we serve.”

Last December, Mayor Higgins became the City of Miami’s first-ever woman mayor and first Democratic mayor in nearly 30 years, even after Miami-Dade county went red in the 2024 presidential election. Mayor Higgins won an upset victory by focusing on affordability challenges Miami was facing like rising housing prices, the need for more good-paying jobs, and an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top — as well the deeply unpopular national immigration agenda. As the Democratic Party searches for a way forward to win in 2026 and 2028, leaders like Mayor Higgins are building the roadmap for other leaders to follow.

The 2027 DMA summit will take place in Miami, Florida from April 14-16th, 2027. More details will follow in the coming weeks.
