Democratic Mayors Association Honors President Joe Biden’s Legacy

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Democratic Mayors Association issued the following statement honoring President Joe Biden as he steps away from his 2024 campaign, celebrating his lasting commitment to the nation and his unparalleled legacy of leadership, service, and partnership with America’s mayors. 

“President Joe Biden has been a steadfast ally to Democratic Mayors and their communities, recognizing that the core of America’s strength lies in its cities. His commitment to directly supporting cities is demonstrated by the unprecedented investment in local governments under his administration. These investments have been critical in accelerating infrastructure projects, improving public safety, addressing immigration, tackling the housing crisis, and combatting climate change. The President’s initiatives have strengthened our communities and provided a fair shot for all. 

Since taking office, he has regarded mayors as trusted partners, understanding the vital role they play in addressing our nation’s most pressing challenges. His administration has included a historic number of former mayors, including four cabinet secretaries, three ambassadors, and numerous White House advisors, who have brought their mayoral experience to the national and international stage.

DMA also extends its deepest gratitude to First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, whose steadfast advocacy for veterans’ issues and education, particularly with community colleges, has impacted countless lives. Her compassion and dedication to service have been a beacon of hope and progress for the nation.
