Democratic Mayors Association Statement on President Biden’s First State of the Union Address
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Democratic Mayors Association (DMA) President Mayor Levar Stoney released the following statement tonight in response to President Joe Biden’s first State of the Union address to Congress:
“Tonight, we heard that the state of our union is strong and more resilient, due in large part to the extraordinary leadership of President Joe Biden and his Administration. Since President Biden took office more than a year ago, we have vaccinated more Americans, grown our economy by record numbers, created more jobs, and taken historic steps to rebuild our country’s crumbling infrastructure. As cities remain on the front lines of the nation’s most pressing issues, we as Mayors know the profound impact his actions have had on our communities’ everyday lives and for decades to come.
I applaud the President’s vision for creating a better America for all, which will lead to lower costs for working families, better-paying jobs, stronger supply chains, safer and healthier communities, a cleaner environment, and so much more. Similar to the President’s remarks, I agree that much work remains to be done, and we must continue to ensure every American gets a fair shot and a more equitable future.”
