Democratic Mayors Association Applauds President Biden’s Nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the Supreme Court
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the Democratic Mayors Association Board released the following statement in response to President Joe Biden’s historic nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson as the first Black woman to the United States Supreme Court.
“We commend President Biden’s nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the United States Supreme Court. In choosing a Black woman as the next nominee, he has not only reaffirmed his commitment to judicial diversity but helped ensure the richness of our country is reflected in its leadership and on the highest Court. Judge Jackson’s nomination provides a historic opportunity to transform the Court for the better and ensure working families, women, and communities of color are represented at the highest level. She has had a distinguished career as a U.S. Circuit Judge, U.S. District Judge, and federal public defender and has proven her commitment to the rule of law and upholding our nation’s democratic values. The Democratic Mayors Association urges the Senate to move swiftly in the confirmation process.”
