Democratic Mayors Association Commends Passage of the Inflation Reduction Act
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Democratic Mayors Association (DMA) President Mayor Levar M. Stoney issued the following statement in response to President Joe Biden's celebration of the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act at the White House:
“Democratic Mayors applaud President Biden for signing the Inflation Reduction Act into law and celebrate the life-changing impact it will have on our communities across the country for generations to come. This historic legislation will combat inflation, lower everyday costs for working families, create good-paying jobs, and reduce the deficit. With this law, we will continue to grow the economy from the bottom up and middle out and truly build a better America for all. The legislation will also help working families who struggle with health care costs by reducing insurance costs for millions and making prescription drugs cheaper.
As cities remain on the front lines of the nation's most pressing issues, Mayors know firsthand that bold action is required to tackle the climate crisis. The Inflation Reduction Act is a significant investment in climate action and will help guide our communities to a more sustainable future. We commend the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressional Democrats for leading these efforts and putting our nation's families, workers, and cities first.”
