Democratic Mayors Association Statement on the Announcement of the RAISE Grant Recipients

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Democratic Mayors Association (DMA) President Mayor Levar M. Stoney issued the following statement in response to the announcement of the RAISE grant recipients from the U.S. Department of Transportation:

“Today’s announcement of the RAISE grant recipients is a tremendous win for America’s Mayors and cities and an important reminder of the long-term impact of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. This once-in-a-generation investment will be transformative for our communities and help local leaders modernize their infrastructure systems, all while addressing the climate crisis, ensuring racial equity, and creating good-paying jobs.

We also acknowledge the significance of President Biden’s Infrastructure Law, which has played a critical role in opening the door for significant funding to go directly to cities to rebuild America’s roads, railways, transit systems, and ports. Thanks to this infusion of funding, Mayors will be able to fund more projects than before and make our infrastructure systems more resilient, accessible, and safe. Democratic Mayors thank the Biden-Harris Administration, the U.S. Department of Transportation, and Secretary Pete Buttigieg for leading these efforts and prioritizing investments in our communities.”
